Amnesty subscription not nearly enough.

12/21

But it seems rather inane in light of the all the suffering in our world.

I exercise to counteract the negative affects of my sedentary, over-fed, western lifestyle of luxury and leisure.

And others in the world have neither food, clothing or shelter. In particular today I am thinking of those who lack shelter from the machines of war.

What to do? Where to start?
It is overwhelming.

I say this in no other spirit than that of schadenfreude, but have you realised that exercising to counteract the negative affects of your lifestyle merely adds to the list of charges?

At the extremes of our fitness regimes (to provide a logical example) are those 'gym bunnies' who represent a state of fitness, quality of training, and luxury of nutrition that is nigh on impossible to many in the world today.

You make a good point. It was realising this that made me feel so uncomfortable with my life.

But I want to feel uncomfortable with this life of surfeit rather than take it for granted.

Also: thanks for the "word of the day". I can now add schadenfreude to my vocabulary, although I don't think I will use it in conversation too often.
